Volante’s is thrilled to have become your one stop shop this holiday season. Now that we carry wonderful and fresh local food year round in addition to our traditional Christmas trees, Poinsettias and decorations for the home we can be the easy way you complete your to do lists this week.
We still have hundreds of trees to choose from and are getting fresh deliveries of flowering plants for the weekend. Bunched branches, wreaths, lights, ornaments and garland are all still available in our greenhouse trim-a-tree shop as well.
There are many beautiful ornaments and gift items to choose from in our trim a tree shop and farmstand, many handmade locally as well as cookbooks from local authors like Amy Traverso’s The Apple Lovers Cookbook and Sweet Basil Restaurant’s Dave Becker’s newest cookbook STEWED.
Of course a a gift of food is always appreciated, which is why we are happy to offer gift cards for sale online and in the store. Additionally we have designed a variety of fruit baskets and local and specialty gift baskets for a quick and thoughtful gift option. They can also be ordered online for in store pick or from the cashiers.
We are also happy to suggest the gift of education this Christmas. We have just announced Volante’s Hearty Winter Cooking Class with Chef Todd. Slated for January 19th from 6-8 pm, Todd will lead a small group through the preparation of 5 Hearty Winter dishes. Tickets are $50 per person and may be purchased by calling the farm and following the voice prompts at 781-444-2351.
Chef Todd has also released his Christmas Menu. Like his Thanksgiving Menu, it will consist of large portion side dishes available for ordering prior to the holidays for pick up. All orders will need to go directly through Todd so that he can be sure you are getting the amount and dishes you wish, but please check out his offerings here. Many of them will be familiar but a few new ones are in there as well like appetizer sized Beef Wellingtons, Garlic and Cheese Puffs, and Spanakopita.
He will surely be sampling some of them in the stand over the next week, so you can try before you buy and keep our savory side dishes in mind to take some little bit of stress out of your holiday planning. He will take orders through 5 pm on Friday the 21st for pickup by 5 pm on Christmas Eve.
Since you might let us take care of your side dishes, maybe pies and baked goods as well, consider taking on the meat course yourself. We are very pleased to offer a special Holiday Meats Order service for our customers this season. If there is a cut you have been dying to try or a traditional item you have trouble getting a hold of, see if we can help you out with our Brandt Farm Prime Beef Tenderloin or Bone In Rib Roast. We are taking special orders on the following products through next Thursday, December 20. If there is something not on the list already please ask us, we may be able to get it for you. Many of these items are by order only, but we will have some interesting meats in the freezer and refrigerator so be sure to see what is new when you stop in.
Likewise the kitchen and deli are ready to take your orders for catering platters. There is a wide selection of choices from cold cut platters, sandwich patters, and fine cheese plates. see our menu for more and direct orders and questions to email@example.com

Volante’s is happy to announce a special evening cooking class with Chef Todd on January 19th, 2013 focusing on Hearty Winter Meals. Todd will lead a small group of 25 people through all the steps of preparing, start to finish, five of his favorite winter dishes. The menu will be determined based on the best ingredients available that week and will be sure to have his unique stamp on it. There could be appetizers, stews, or meat entrees based on what looks good that week but no matter what it will be filling and winter hearty.
Consider giving the aspiring chef in your life a gift they can really enjoy this year.
The event will be from 6-8 pm and be held in the cafe seating area of the farmstand, right near the kitchen. Students will get to taste each of the dishes as Todd completes it. Tickets are now available $50.00 per person by calling the farm 781-444-2351.

It’s tree weekend! If you have been wondering if it was time to come out and get your tree, well yes now is the time. We will have all hands on deck this weekend to help you choose, carry, cut and tie down the perfect tree on your vehicle so that you can begin to celebrate the holidays at your house, like we have been doing here for what seems like forever now.
There are still hundreds of Frasier Fir, Balsam Fir, Scotch Pine, and Fralsam Fir Mixes to choose from. Plus we have been getting in regular deliveries of wreaths to decorate yourself or take home with our custom designs on them. There are fresh colorful poinsettias, amaryllis, and wonderful mixed containers perfect for quick, easy and gorgeous gifting.
Be sure to visit the Farmstand to see all the wonderful Christmas and Hanukkah candy, and visit our beautiful Gingerbread farm stand, painstaking produced by Pastry Chef Jen over the last few weeks . She had her architect sister draw up plans from photos of the building and take them to a local print shop to print and design the building blocks to make a scaled replica. It is 100% edible and well beyond that in beauty. You will find it right inside the Farmstand doors by the big tree and next to the free apple cider we will be mulling there all weekend.

We are well into December and still have a lot to be thankful for here at Volante’s. While the frost is getting a little deeper every night, we are still finding fresh produce out in the fields to fill your holiday tables. this week we just finally finished off our cauliflower and broccoli crops and last weekend saw the last of our homegrown carrots and beets as well, not because of the weather, just because we picked them all! So thank you for being such ardent supporters of your local farm that you have just cleaned the shelves.
The good news is that there are still farm fresh Brussels sprouts and parsnips available. Seems like they should make it through Christmas based on current sales. Then oddly two crops that had disappeared for a while have resurfaced, lettuce and radishes. We covered a few crops of lettuce and though they seemed they were going to be to small to ever harvest, the warm weather at the beginning of last week gave them one more little spurt and now we have a new product on our December shelves, boxes of baby lettuce heads in single variety or mixed options. Each box looks like the ones we offer our baby greens in but instead have three or four mini heads of Boston, Romaine, Red leaf, or Green leaf in them. A wonderful way to get a crisp summer green on cold winter nights.
Monday: On the Edge Knife Sharpening 2-5 pm Patti Small sharpens your kitchen knives for the holidays from her mobile sharpening unit in our parking lot.
