Volante Farms is pleased to announce the dates and ticket sales of our Dinner in the Field Series for Summer 2014. We have another exciting lineup of unique meals planned for you this season, each with its own twist and definitely each featuring the finest ingredients straight from our fields with our kitchen’s special touch.
Our Dinners in the Field are a casual affair, decorated, prepared, served and catered entirely by our farmstand, kitchen, ice cream, greenhouse and field crews. Please consider joining us again or for the first time this summer as we celebrate the harvest with a fantastic meal served on the land where it was grown and harvested and joined with good friends and family and nice wine and/or beer.
This year’s dinners will be all be $125 per person and tickets are available online only for now. Meals are not vegetarian, but there is always enough vegetables, salads and sides available to satisfy. Diners with dietary and allergy concerns should list them when registering. Likewise if there are others attending you’d like to be seated with you can let us know in the registration form and we will do our best to accommodate. Please remember to dress wisely, we mean it when we say field so sensible shoes are a must!
CANCELLATION POLICY: We know plans change and we are happy to refund your tickets if you let us know prior to 48 hours before the start of the event. We will not be able to give refunds within 48 hours of the event.
Thursday July 10, 6 pm: Beer vs Wine
We have always had a very wonderful time when it has just been wine at our previous dinners, but with the explosion of excellent craft brews available to us locally we thought it would be a great way to experiment with that wide variety. Diners will get to compare a paired beer and a wine with each course of the evening, with an opportunity to see the benefit of each. The meal will be built around the freshest and earlier vegetables of the season, falling right on the cusp of corn season.
Thursday July 31, 6 pm: Heading for the Coast
We welcome back our favorite local partners, Island Creek Oysters and Truro Vineyards. Both joined us last summer as well and we are thrilled they are back again. It means you will have some of the freshest seafood available, locally raised oysters right from Duxbury as a part of your meal, as well as some of the finest local wine around from Dave Roberts and his family’s Truro Vineyards from the far end of the cape. We’ll all be in beach mode by then and hopefully these coastal flavors will help us feel even closer.
Saturday August 23, 6 pm: Bountiful Harvest
By this point in the summer we are reeling in all sorts of lush summer fruits. This meal most of any will relish in the bounty of heirloom tomatoes, wide array of eggplants and peppers, and dozens of different varietals of beans, radishes, lettuces, carrots we have to offer from our three Needham fields. We will challenge Chef Todd to incorporate each and every one into the meal somewhere, and he’ll no doubt succeed. Diners will enjoy wines paired to the bold summer flavors by a representative from one of our favorite vineyards.
